MICROBLADING Q&A

What Is Microblading?

Microblading is a tattooing technique that uses a hand-held tool with several tiny needles on the end to draw on hair strokes. The instrument deposits ink into the uppermost layer of your skin to simulate the appearance of eyebrow hairs, resulting in fuller-looking eyebrows.

What Is The Microblading Process?

When you come in for your microblading treatment, the team at Loven Dermatology + Aesthetics takes pictures of your face and customizes a plan to create more fullness or tweak the shape and color of your brows.

Then your provider threads and cleans your brows to prepare them for treatment. Microblading can feel like little pinpricks as the top layer of your skin is broken to deposit the pigment that stimulates eyebrow hairs. If your skin is sensitive, they can apply a numbing agent.

Your provider begins by using new, sterile tools to create gentle feather-like strokes to fill and shape your brows, achieving your desired look. Finally, they darken your brows with a coat of pigment. The entire treatment takes about two hours.

What Post-treatment Care Is Required?

The night after your treatment, you need to thoroughly clean the treatment area and apply a thin layer of moisturizer, such as coconut oil.

In the days following your treatment, your eyebrows might itch, become flaky, and change color. This is part of the healing process, so don’t worry and don’t scratch them.

For the next week, you should avoid getting the treated area wet, cleanse the area gently, avoid hot showers or saunas, and keep sweating to a minimum. You should not use harsh exfoliants during the healing process.

The pigment in your brows will also appear to darken in the first few days. This is normal as it starts to oxidize and will fade away in another few days as your healing continues.

How Long Do The Effects Of Microblading Last?

The results of your microblading treatment last about 2-3 years depending on your skin type and skincare routine. You should come in to Loven Dermatology + Aesthetics for a follow-up 4-6 weeks after your initial treatment for any tweaks.
